Vladimir Putin held a working meeting with Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu to address issues of settling the Syrian crisis. The President gave an order to begin withdrawing the main part of Russian troops from the Syrian Arab Republic on March 15. The President of Russia also instructed the Foreign Ministry to intensify the Russian Federation’s participation in organising the peace process to resolve the Syrian problem.

On February 27 - March 4, 2016 Mr. Isaak Kalina, Minister of Moscow Government, Head of the Department of Education of Moscow visited Dubai where he held a meeting with Dr. Abdulla Al Karam, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director General of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA). The parties discussed modern educational systems in Russia and the UAE, emphasized the need to promote private school education. Mr. I.Kalina also participated in the Gulf Educational Supplies & Solutions (GESS) exhibition that was held on February 24-26, 2016 in Dubai World Trade Center.

On March 2-12, 2016 the traditional Russian and East European Maslenitsa Spring Festival will be held in Grand Hyatt Hotel. On February 16-17, 2016 Mr. Ilyas Umakhanov, Deputy Chairperson of the Council of the Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the accompanying delegation visited UAE. The delegation held talks with Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of the Federal National Council of the UAE at the headquarters in Abu Dhabi. During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to strengthen friendship and cooperation between the UAE and Russia in various fields, especially in the parliamentary domain in the best interests of the two friendly peoples.

The Great Moscow State Circus on Verdansky Prospect is one of the most famous world circuses lead by legendary Edgard and Askold Zapashny, of the Zapashny’s Circus dynasty. The Anniversary Gala Evening dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Dubai Concert Committee and the 15th anniversary of Morozov's Quartet will take place at the One&Only Royal Mirage hotel. The Dubai Concert Committee was established 20 years ago, on 8 January 1996 under the patronage of HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saed al Maktoum, by Sir Maurice Flanagan the founder of the Emirates Airlines, the British Consul General HE Chris Wilton and a group of high profile business people and music lovers to provide the first opportunity to regularly enjoy classical music concerts in Dubai and the Middle East. The Morozov's Quartet was formed 15 years ago by the violin virtuoso, founder and soloist of the quartet, CEO of M Premiere - Evgeniy Morozov.

The third edition of Dubai Classics promises to be the highlight of the live events season with the regional debut of highly acclaimed violinist and decorated Russian Paganini, Vadim Repin, who will take to the stage at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) on March 25th, 2016. Vadim Repin is a phenomenon in classical music world and is considered as one the best violin players around the globe. In 2010 he was awarded the Victoire d’Honneur, France’s most prestigious musical award for a lifetime’s dedication to music, and also became Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et Lettres. Famous for winning a gold medal in the Wienawski Competition at the young age of 11, Repin will be accompanied by world renowned Italian Maestro Fabio Mastrangelo, commonly referred to as Russia’s most famous Italian-born conductor, who will be leading the St. Petersburg "Northern Sinfonietta" Chamber Orchestra. Vadim Repin plays on the 1733 'Rode' violin by Stradivari.

On February 1-2, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov paid a working visit to the United Arab Emirates. He was received by Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and held talks with UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed al Nahyan, co-chair of the Intergovernmental Russian-UAE Commission for Trade, Economic and Technical Cooperation.

Kirill Dmitriev, Director General of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RFPI) and Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Chairman of DP World signed a document determining the key terms and principles of the new joint venture company targeting ports, transportation and logistics infrastructure in Russia.
